Gnolls

The gnolls are a race of humanoids who resemble upright hyenas. Though a few gnoll tribes live in civilized groups and enjoy diplomacy and trade with other races, the majority of gnolls worship a demon prince who lusts for slaughter and bloodshed.

Personality
Gnolls are predisposed to vicious and violent impulses - tendencies which endear them to the demon prince Yeenoghu. However, those gnolls who are separate from the worship of Yeenoghu often find ways to redirect these impulses as fervent protectors of their villages or other humanoids' cities.
Physical Description
Gnolls are tall - they average over 6' tall, and many males are over 7' tall. They are also lithe, having slight frames. Their faces look like those of hyenas, and their fur color ranges from light blond to dark browns and black.
Relations
The gnolls who worship Yeenoghu have no relations with other races - they are xenophobic and hate other creature with a vicious spite. Gnolls occasionally enslave other humanoid races, but generally these slaves end up as meals for the gnolls within days of capture.
Those gnolls outside of Yeenoghu's vicious tribes can enjoy good relationships with other races, so long as those races do not attack them on sight. Most often, orcs, tauros and elves come to appreciate these more peaceful gnolls.
Alignment
Those gnolls who revere Yeenoghu are Chaotic Evil to the last, but gnolls outside his worship are often Unaligned.
History
The gnolls tell a tale of Yeenoghu, then a formless demonic spirit, finding hyenas much to his liking. After taking a hyena-like form himself, Yeenoghu made the first gnolls as his servants from hyenas themselves. Beyond this tale, very little gnoll history exists. Most gnolls have little time to create or recall their history as a race.
Gnoll Lands
Gnolls own no real lands, being nomadic and tribal by nature. They most often wander the wilds, setting up temporary villages in the gaps between cities, hunting for food and raiding and stealing when they can.
Religion
The worship of Yeenoghu is prevalent among gnolls. Yeenoghu demands blood sacrifice, but in turn he often grants his priests the powers of the Abyss and control of the undead. Yeenoghu himself commands ghouls and ghasts, and his priests often use these undead as well.
Language
Gnolls speak Abyssal, even amongst civil tribes. Civil gnolls learn Common as well.
