The Middle Kingdoms are the center of human power in the Eye.
A confederacy of Five member nations, the Middle Kingdoms have been allied since the war against the Bale. The five member nations (and Kosska, an affiliate nation) are directed by a central organization comprised of the Lord Protector and the Council of Five. The central organization determines trade laws and the like for the five member nations. The Lord Protector commands the Red Guard, an army designed to defend all member nations in the event of an outside threat.

History
When the threat of the Bale became apparent, the kingdoms of central Praxima banded together to form the Alliance of the Middle Kingdoms. The Kingdom of Nezrahim was reluctant to join, and while they delayed on signing the treaties, the Bale tore their nation apart.
After the war against the Bale, the five nations worked to keep their ties closer. Kosska, which was loathe to give up any freedoms to a non-dwarven authority, signed treaties as an affiliate nation, agreeing to uphold their part of the Red Guard.
Since then, the Middle Kingdom has had twenty Lord Protectors. Since King Ruenhert or Argun took the position of Lord Protector a decade ago, he has tightened security in the Middle Kingdom to end the invasions of bandits and monsters alike. As a direct result, the Middle Kingdom has begun an imperial set of policies, annexing a portion of Nezrahim, building forces along the border of Telwar and attempting to take back the Norrdland.
