The Soulforged are a race of mechanical-organic humanoids. Systematically, they are the Warforged race found in other settings, but with the following cosmetic differences:

• Soulforged have four fingers and a thumb on each hand and five toes on each foot.
• Soulforged have more expressive faces, though the still lack the facial definition of a human or elf.
• Soulforged bodies are universally intricate and artisic. Any surface - whether wood, metal or stone - is delicately engraved and detailed.
• Soulforged have genders. Though they lack any reproductive organs, their bodies have distinctly masculine and feminine builds and they usually self-identify as a specific gender.

In the Eye

Soulforged are a rarity outside of Actorus, and they are not very populous inside that nation, either. Most experts estimate there are 400 or less total Soulforged in the eye.

In Actorus

In Actorus, the Soulforged are treated as honored citizens. Though any Actoran alchemist would give his left arm to study them, they are given the full rights of any other humanoid race. In fact, each Soulforged has been given the opportunity to become a noble, and most live in the finest houses in the nation. They are essentially Actoran celebrities.

Origins

No one knows the true origins of the Soulforged, though there are many theories:

• The Soulforged were built by the Engineers to carry on their legacy.
• The Lion Empire built the Soulforged as slaves.
• As the Lich is to necromancy, so the Soulforged is to alchemy.
• The Soulforged are the heralds of Artifex.

Most Soulforged do not talk about their origins openly. Some individuals have claimed any one of the above, though several have said they don't remember their own beginnings, though most can remember back a thousand years or more.
